KWVA NATIONAL 2008 ELECTION

Updated April 26, 2008

NOTICE!!

From February 16, 2008 through the 2008 National Election process, we will post info about KWVA folks who are running for National office.  It was decided that the requirements for posting eligibility would be as follows, the candidate:

Must be a National KWVA Member in good standing. *

Must sign up to the KWVA Code of Conduct*, and:

  • Fully support the KWVA Policy/Ethical Conduct memo, Titled Revised Policy (03.29.2005) on Access, Personal Information, and Elections:
RENAMED: ETHICAL GUIDANCE Dated January 29th 2007
  • Provide to us the profile and personal photo they have submitted or plan to submit to the KWVA Nominations/Election Committee.   This will be a 'good faith' submittal, in that it matches what was submitted to the Committee.
  • Submittal to us as an email attachment is preferred, but if you send it by USPS or other snailmail method, not to worry, we have a scanner and Photoshop.

* Criteria for these requirements can be found at the KWVA website: http://www.kwva.org

LINKS TO CANDIDATE POSTINGS

Links will be added as candidates request inclusion and qualify for posting.

Postings are planned to officially begin after February 15, 2008, which is the last day allowed for candidacy submittals to the KWVA Nominations/Election Committee

Submittals to us for posting on the KWVA California website will be verified and subject to confirmation by the Chairman of the KWVA Nominations/Election Committee that their submittal was accepted.

Candidates will be allowed another web page here, to include any further information they wish to post. On those pages they may add information they may wish to elaborate on or add to what will appear in The Graybeards Magazine.

We will refer to that as the 'More Info Link'. It may be actually more than one page, or cover more than one subject. The objective should be to allow the candidate a little more room to acquaint the voter with their views and intent.

Please note: Some KWVA folks in Texas have put up a website with goals similar to ours. You can check Chapter 270's site out at: http://www.kwvavoterinfo.org/

Their 'Rules Of Conduct' as expressed in their 'Purpose Statement' about what to include and more importantly; what not to include appear to be wise, thoughtful & fair.  Unless and until we hear or see something that would change our mind, we will use them also in our acceptance process for including the 'More Info Link' information.

NEW: Comments from KWVA Department of California Secretary George Lawhon on the current election.

He is a Candidate for KWVA Director; but the links you see below reflect his views about one of the issues in this campaign among the candidates for President.

Please click on:

An Open Letter to Byron Dickerson an html file that will open in your browser, and

Booklet - Let There Be Light This will take you to a page where you can download a pdf file of the booklet, which you can open with Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Should you not have that handy little program, you can download a free copy of the latest version of Adobe's Adobe Acrobat Reader at their website. The file prints out to a six-sheet, 24-page document which can be folded into a 5-1/2" X 8-1/2" booklet.   It contains a sequential printout of "Let There Be Light" followed by "An Open Letter to Byron Dickerson."

Comments from a KWVA Member to a recent email from a candidate, and the manner of advertising his and other candidates' intentions and qualifications.  Mr. Thompson is not pleased, and neither are we.

Since you have the vote, you might want to consider both points of view before you exercise that precious right.
